Chalk Alley

The Chalk Alley Art Mural project, initiated in 2023 by the NorthShore Merchants Collective, transformed a neglected alley into a vibrant community art space. Little Things Lab led the installation, with Good Stud.io serving as design/build lead and fabricating the chalk station that anchors the project. The reimagined alley pairs a series of chalkboard-painted panels (inviting passersby to create and share their own art) with a colorful mural by local artist Alecia Buckles. Activated with seating, storage for chalk, and playful design elements, Chalk Alley brings life, creativity, and a renewed sense of community to Chattanooga’s North Shore.
