The Big Chill #2
While working with HK Architects, Petra served as schematic design lead on a concept for a second location of The Big Chill, a well-known Chattanooga restaurant. Commissioned by Peppers Construction to help pitch the idea to the owner, the design addressed the unique challenges and opportunities of the existing building, such as a split-level floor, to organize different types of seating areas. The concept also featured a large outdoor space, with circulation and accessibility integrated into the design: the placement of restrooms paired a required ramp with the opportunity to frame a mural wall as a focal point. Though unrealized, this project shows how creative problem-solving can transform constraints into defining features.
