D-I-Y Build Kit!

Good Stud.io, with frequent collaborators Little Things Lab and Alecia Vera, was tasked by The Trust for Public Land to design a community bench and kit-of-parts for use in participatory build sessions. The system was developed with clear guidelines: it had to invite creativity from community members, require no power tools, and be structured around two design sessions held at least a week apart. The result is a flat-pack kit that includes pre-cut wood pieces, swivel plates, lighting, canvas fabric for community-painted artwork appliqués and step-by-step instructions with detailed diagrams available in both English and Spanish.
